Join the acclaimed Andromeda Sax Quartet for Mass Transit, a concert inspired by train networks, cityscapes and dreamlike commuter journeys.

The programme features the Australian premiere of Sam Wu’s Mass Transit, an intricate musical exploration of the Shanghai Metro, performed with pianist Catherine Li. The concert also includes Guillermo Lago’s Ciudades, a collection of evocative urban postcards, and Emma O’Halloran’s atmospheric Night Music.

Praised by Limelight as “a masterclass in ensemble finesse”, Andromeda Sax Quartet has quickly established itself as one of Australia’s most exciting young chamber ensembles. Since forming in 2022, the quartet has championed the rich and diverse repertoire for saxophone quartet through performances, premieres and educational projects across Australia and internationally.

Recent highlights include serving as the Australian Festival of Chamber Music’s 2025 Fellowship Ensemble, performing the Australian premiere of Viet Cuong’s Second Nature with the North Shore Wind Symphony, and studying in France at the European University of Saxophone following their Henderson Travelling Bequest win. Their growing national profile has seen them perform at major festivals and venues across Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and regional New South Wales.

Mass Transit offers a captivating musical journey through modern cities, transport networks and nocturnal urban landscapes, showcasing the quartet’s trademark precision, artistry and adventurous spirit.
