The Floor

Is About The Body

The Floor is designed for movement, rehearsal, and physical research. It is a space where the body leads thinking, and where weight, rhythm, repetition, and endurance shape the work. Sunlight streams across the 300m² open space, highlighting the expansive sprung vinyl dance floor — ideal for dance, physical theatre, workshops, and embodied practice.

The room combines flexibility and functionality. Two large roller doors allow for easy load-in, while the standard lighting state and small PA system provide adaptable conditions for performance and rehearsal. The Kawai GX-3 grand piano, “Olive,” is available for hire under a Piano Care Agreement, offering the possibility of integrated musical practice within movement work.

Hirers have access to air conditioning, a full kitchen, and bathroom facilities, as well as the Artists’ Greenroom for preparation and breaks. Chairs, tables, and stools can be arranged as needed, and bar facilities are available, managed by The Living Room Theatre.

The Floor is a space where physical exploration meets practical support — where bodies can move freely, ideas can take shape in motion, and rehearsal can unfold without constraint.
