They Come for Them at Night
In collaboration with the Sydney Environment Institute

We are pleased to present a showing of the work-in-development They Come for Them at Night, a multidisciplinary exploration of home—its comforts, its nourishment, and the inevitable act of leaving or being left behind.

In this work, audiences are invited to tumble down the imagination hole, crafting their own narratives and understandings. They choose what to see, hear, feel, and touch, moving freely through a landscape where topography, weather, and performance blur the line between artist and spectator.

A single object will serve as a connective thread between artists, prompting audiences to consider how they relate to it and what stories it carries. Drawing on the natural wonders and ambient soundscapes of the Eramboo Artist Environment, the work creates a corridor between the real and the imagined.

The narrative is grounded in reality, shaped by research on food security, migration, and climate change. This research will be transformed into a story of humanity and the fragility of safety. The work will evolve into a major production in 2015, developed by an ensemble of artists from diverse disciplines.

Through this project, we aim to spark deeper conversations between artists, creatives, and industry about the plight of the earth and its peoples—adding new textures to the diverse fabric of Australian art.
