At The Living Room Theatre (LRT), we believe in the power of creativity to bring people together, spark conversation, and build community. As we enter an exciting new phase of growth—including the development of initiatives such as LRT and 21 Shepherd—we are seeking a Treasurer to join our Board and help guide our financial sustainability and future direction.
Why This Role Matters
As a volunteer-led organisation, strong financial governance is essential to everything we do. The Treasurer plays a critical role in ensuring LRT remains financially viable, well-informed, and positioned for thoughtful, sustainable growth.
This is not a hands-on bookkeeping role. Instead, it is a strategic, governance-focused position—ideal for someone who wants to contribute their financial expertise in a meaningful, flexible way.
What You’ll Do
As Treasurer, you will work closely with the Chair and CEO to:
- Provide high-level financial oversight and strategic insight
- Support the development of financial frameworks and planning tools
- Help the Board understand financial performance, risks, and opportunities
- Contribute to long-term sustainability and growth planning
- Build financial confidence and literacy across the Board
You’ll act as a trusted advisor—helping translate numbers into clear, practical insights that support decision-making.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who brings:
- Experience in financial leadership, treasury, or senior financial management
- A strong understanding of budgeting, cash flow, and financial sustainability
- The ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial audiences
- A strategic mindset with a practical, proportionate approach
- An interest in the arts, community, or purpose-driven work
Experience in not-for-profit or creative organisations is highly valued, but not essential.
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer role with a modest and predictable commitment—typically around 4 hours per month, aligned with Board cycles and planning needs. The role is supported by a bookkeeper who has been with the organisation for over 5 years.
Why Join LRT?
This is an opportunity to:
- Contribute to a female-led organisation focused on women’s voices and experiences
- Support a growing and values-driven creative practice
- Apply your financial expertise in a meaningful governance role
- Help shape the sustainability of an emerging cultural organisation
