Imaginary Radio Station

Step into the Imaginary Radio Station, a space of storytelling and music. Ride waves of memory, embrace halos of sparkling static and be part of a broadcast like no other. 

This shape-shifting radio station is composed by Stephen Adams for and in collaboration with the music box project, with dramaturgical support from Nikki Heywood. Weaving together threads of sound, movement and personal reflection, join us for a sonic meditation on radio and connection.

Doors open: 6:30pm
Performance begins: 7:00pm
Performance concludes: 8:30pm


Stephen Adams is a composer, improvising musician, voice and sound artist with rich experience in radio production and content curation of contemporary classical and experimental music.

Sydney-based the music box project is an award-winning, artist-run collective of musicians presenting creative, community driven and collaborative music experiences. The collective consists of Jane Aubourg, Elizabeth Jigalin, Naomi Johnson, Peter Leung and Joseph Lisk. The collective has championed an interdisciplinary approach to music making and specialises in creating music experiences that incorporates elements of performance art, media, improvisation, and more. 

Nikki Heywood is an interdisciplinary artist working across dance, performance, writing and live art. A performance creator with a deep focus on embodiment, her long professional practice has centred upon devising and directing original movement-based performance work.
