There’s a spark every time Mike Nock and Leah Berry make music together. What began as a simple message — Leah sharing lyrics she’d written to Nock’s The Gift — became something much larger: an unfolding collaboration built on instinct, trust, and deep listening.

An invitation to join him on stage led to a chance moment, drummer Laurence Pike in the audience, hearing enough to set the next step in motion. Soon after, in a rush of creative energy, Berry wrote lyrics to a further seven of Nock’s compositions. The duo’s debut performance at Inner West Jazz Festival sold out and was met with a rapturous response.

They went straight to the studio. Joined by Laurence Pike and bassist Jonathan Zwartz.

At 21 Shepherd , a post-industrial warehouse where sound expands beyond the edges, this collaboration finds its natural setting. Not fixed, not contained, but alive in the room.
