Dress the Circle — Help Us Build a Home for Brave Work

After 25 years of creating fearless, independent theatre, The Living Room Theatre has found a permanent home at 21 Shepherd Street, Marrickville.

This is more than a building. It is the living embodiment of our Vision:
To be an ever-evolving space where artists and audiences come together to transform understanding—through fearless storytelling, embodied research, and the pursuit of truth, beauty, and justice.

Through our Mission, we offer artists a home for collaboration, vulnerability, and growth. We ask the urgent questions—how violence and trauma persist in relation to the female body—and create performances that embolden change.

Our Purpose is clear: to reveal and confront the ways violence and trauma are bound to inequality and injustice, making space for empathy, dignity, and transformation.

And at the core of our Platform lies the exploration of how the body and space are architecturally framed. Through nonlinear, multi-sensory experiences, we hold joy, love, beauty, and rage—transcending shame and reclaiming courage.

Now, with 21 Shepherd Street, we can embody this work every day. But we need your help to “dress the circle” and bring this home to life.

How You Can Help

From a $25 work light that keeps creativity alive after dark, to a $10,000 transformation package that builds a complete stage environment, every gift helps us create a flexible, welcoming space where artists and audiences can gather, imagine, and transform together.

Every donor will be acknowledged on our Donor Circle Wall and receive behind-the-scenes updates as we build this sanctuary for courageous work.
